Four-part singing: how do you teach the parts?
Many churches still sing in parts from old hymnals. Some songbooks in WorshipPro have four-part sheet music (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), and on iPad you can use it for practice:
- View → As in original lays out the page like the songbook, with all the verses under the notes.
- Arrangement adds a piano part generated from the harmony, so each voice can practise along.
- Transposition works on sheet music too, if the original is too high for your church.
Now a question for you: do you still sing in parts?
- How do you teach new people their part: rehearsals by voice, recordings, sheet music on a phone?
- Who leads it: a choir director, the worship leader, someone at the piano?
- Do younger people in your church still learn to sing in parts?
- Which hymns work best in four parts?
Tell us in a reply how it looks in your church.
