Songbook chords are a good start, but bands often play them their own way: with added notes, a different bass, or simpler because someone new is on guitar today. A song can have several chord variants next to the Original.

    • Team: a variant for the whole church, e.g. "Full chords" (Cadd9, Em7, D/F#) or "Simple" (G C D Em).
    • Mine: your own chords, and only you see them. Share with the team gives the team a copy.
    • ★ My default: the variant with the star always opens for you, on every device.
    • For one service: whoever edits the plan picks Team variant for this service in the plan's charts. Your My default still wins.
    • No retyping: Copy the original and edit, or Paste or import for chords over lyrics, ChordPro, text from Ultimate Guitar, or a file from OnSong or a .cho file. Before saving, you can see whether the lyrics match the Original.
    • The original has newer text: when someone corrects the song's lyrics, the variant gets this sign, so nothing drifts apart quietly. On worshippro.net, Move my chords onto the new text carries the chords over for you to check.

A variant changes only the chords for musicians: chords, charts and the charts PDF, with the variant's name in the header. Slides on the projector and text on phones always come from the Original. Transposition, capo and the song form work on a variant just the same.

    Where it works
    • worshippro.net: the Chord variants tab on the song page is where you add and manage variants.
    • iPhone and iPad: pick a variant from the Chord variant menu in the song view and in stage mode.
    • Android: pick a variant in the Display sheet in the song view.
    • Desktop app: choose the Team chord variant for a song in the plan. The stage display shows those chords, and the slides keep the Original's text.

Changing a team variant takes permission to edit songs. Your own variants are yours to change.
