Chord grid as written: cues, bar text and fermata
Bands often play from a hand-written chart: "strings" above a verse, "rit." above a bar, a fermata before the end, a bridge that starts with a single bar. The chord grid in WorshipPro can keep all of that the way it is on the sheet.
- Cue: a short note for a whole part, e.g. "groove in" or "piano only", next to the part's name.
- Bar text: "rit.", "band in", "F# G# A B G#", "x4".
- Fermata: a sign above a bar. In playback with the band, the chord lasts one bar longer.
- Rows as on the original: a short row stays short, and nothing is regrouped into fours.
- Chords your way: C#ø, F°, G(omit3) and Dsus stay as you type them.
- A song without text: grids only, with each part written once and the order given in the file. As written shows the parts once, Expanded shows them in playing order, and the Form tab marks such a form as "from file".
- PDF and print: the charts PDF and the song print draw the grids.
Where it works today
- worshippro.net: open the song editor and choose Chord grid — syntax. The cheat sheet has ready examples with an Insert button, and the preview warns about mistakes. In the file it looks like this:
{x_cue: strings}before the first bar, and{x_bar: 4 text="rit." fermata}before the row with the fourth bar. - Android: Edit grid, then Cue… in the section menu, and Bar text…, Fermata and New row from this bar in the bar menu.
- Desktop app: it doesn't draw chord grids. The stage display shows text with chords.
iPhone and iPad: be careful
The iPhone and iPad version in the App Store shows the grid without these marks. If someone saves a grid from its grid editor, the cues, bar text and fermatas can disappear from the file. For now, edit such grids on worshippro.net or on Android.
A question for you: what's still missing in your charts to play straight from WorshipPro?
