Importing from another program on the computer

  1. EmanuelWorshipPro

Have you been using OpenSong, OpenLP, EasyWorship, WorshipTools or ProPresenter? You can bring your songs (and, from some programs, your services too) over in the desktop app — often straight from the disk where the old program lives. Before anything is saved, you see a preview and decide what to bring over.

An import can be started by someone with access to the church settings (Owner, Admin). You need internet.

    Where
    • Songs → Import…
    • or Settings → General → Imports → Import from another program…

On the Import screen, pick the tile for your source.

    OpenSong

The OpenSong folder tile. It brings over songs with chords and categories (as tags), and sets as plans — with songs, Scripture passages and slides.

    1. If the app finds an OpenSong folder on this computer, click Use this folder — the folder window opens right inside it; just confirm with "Open" (Windows: "Select Folder"). If not, use Choose folder…, Choose .zip file… or Choose files…. You can also drag the folder onto the screen.
    2. Check the summary: the number of songs, categories and sets.
    3. Songbook name — a tag for every song in this import, e.g. "Youth songbook". In the Songs view such a collection (3 songs or more) gets its own tab next to the songbooks. OpenSong themes as tags turns themes into tags.
    4. Click Load into preview.

Only the texts of songs and sets are sent. Backgrounds, images and OpenSong settings stay on the computer.

    OpenLP

The OpenLP tile → Choose songs.sqlite…. Close OpenLP first. You'll find the file in:

    • Windows: %APPDATA%\openlp\data\songs
    • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/openlp/Data/songs

It brings over song texts with the verse order, authors and the CCLI number.

    EasyWorship

In EasyWorship, select the songs in the Songs library, then File → Export and save a .ewsx file. In WorshipPro: the EasyWorship tile → Choose .ewsx file….

    ProPresenter 7

The ProPresenter 7 tile → Choose .pro or .zip files… or Choose folder…. You can pick many files at once, a folder, or a .zip / .proBundle. The files are usually in Documents/ProPresenter/Libraries. The text is split into parts (Verse, Chorus…), the order comes from the arrangement, and the author from CCLI. Files over 5 MB are skipped, and the app tells you which. Then, as with OpenSong, check the summary and the Songbook name field and click Load into preview. Only the song texts are sent — backgrounds, media and slide styles stay on this computer.

The Linux version, 0.9.57, doesn't do this yet: its tile takes a single .pro7 file. Import .pro files in the browser instead (Songs: songbooks, new songs and moving from another program).

    WorshipTools
    1. The WorshipTools tile → Open WorshipTools. WorshipTools opens in a separate window. Sign in there yourself — WorshipPro doesn't see your password.
    2. In the WorshipTools window, open your account and click Start export.
    3. The Import from WorshipTools panel shows the progress: songs, services and PDF charts. At the end the preview opens.
    4. If sending fails, WorshipTools saves the data to a file. Then click Send the downloaded file….

In the preview, the How to save section has three switches: Save songs as drafts (off by default — songs are active right away, as in WorshipTools), Singing history ("last sung" statistics; past services are saved as held either way) and PDF sheets. Saving runs in the background on the server — you can close the app. Guide for the browser: Move from WorshipTools.

    Preview and saving (all sources)
    • Song tabs: To check, New, Already in the church, Imported earlier, All.
    • For a possible duplicate ("↔ In the church: …"), choose Same song — skip or Different song — add.
    • Tick visible (…) / Untick visible; the services section has the same buttons. The service types and teams sections have Tick new / Untick all.
    • Click Import: … (e.g. "12 songs and 3 plans").

Songs and plans from OpenSong, OpenLP, EasyWorship and ProPresenter are saved as drafts, with a tag for their source. Look them over and publish them: in the browser, set the songs' status to Active, and publish the plans in Services, in this app or in the browser. From WorshipTools, songs are active right away (unless you turn on Save songs as drafts), past services are saved as held, and upcoming ones as draft plans.

Recent imports shows the history. An unfinished import opens by itself.
