A song opened from a plan shows a different key from the plan
What happens
The plan shows a key next to each song. The app follows that key only the first time you open the song on your device, and then saves it as your own key for that song.
The next time a plan has the song in another key, it opens in your saved key, not the plan's. The same happens if you ever changed the key or capo of that song by hand.
Nothing warns you, so you can arrive at the service in the wrong key. Each device saves its own key, so two musicians can see different keys.
Who it affects
Everyone who reads chords in the app, especially if you sing a song in different keys, for example with different leaders.
Workaround
Do this before the service:
- In the plan, note the key next to the song.
- Open the song and look at the key at the top.
- If it's different, tap the key and pick the plan's key from the list. ⊖ and ⊕ also move it a semitone at a time.
The key is saved for this song on this device, so check it again the next time the song is in a plan.
If that doesn't help
If the list has the right key but the chords don't change, report it with the song title and your device.
