Preparing a service on the computer
A service plan you made in the browser is on the computer right away. Here you can add to it — e.g. Scripture readings and the sermon presentation — and get it ready to work without internet. It all happens in the Services view (
⌘6).To change a plan you need the Service plans: Edit permission. Without it you'll see “View only”, but you can still run the service.
Shortcuts are written for Mac: on Windows and Linux, press Ctrl instead of ⌘ and Alt instead of ⌥ (⇧ is Shift).
1. Open a plan
On the left is the Services list, newest first. Click a plan. If there's no plan yet, click New plan — this creates a “Sunday service” for the next Sunday at 10:00. You change the title, date and time in the header.
The header also has:
- + Notes — notes for the team, visible in every app,
- Draft · publish — a click publishes the plan for the team (Published).
2. Add items
Below the list of items is the Add: bar:
- Song — search by title or author;
Enterpicks the first result, - Scripture — type a reference, e.g.
Rom 8:28-30orJohn 3:16-18, - Header — e.g. “Communion”,
- Announcement, Sermon, Other,
- Presentation — a PDF, PowerPoint or Keynote file. The server turns it into slides, so you need internet. The tooltip also suggests dragging the file onto the plan, but in this view that doesn't work. Use the button, or drop the file on the plan in Show. More: Media, backgrounds and presentations (PDF, PowerPoint, Keynote).
Change the order with the Move up / Move down arrows or by dragging a row. The pencil icon (Edit item) opens the details:
- Key — e.g. a different one than in the song,
- Form — Form of the song, a named form, or For this service (e.g. without the last verse),
- Team chord variant — if the song has team variants; the slides always keep the original lyrics,
- Minutes and Note for the team.
You can also drag images, videos and Bible passages straight onto the plan in the Show view — dragging files from your computer works there.
3. No internet? You can still change the plan
New plans and plan changes — title, date, notes, publishing, and adding, editing, moving and deleting items — work offline: they're saved on this computer and go to the server by themselves when the internet is back. Until then you'll see “not sent yet” in the list. Presentations and files from your disk can't be added without internet, because they have to be uploaded to the server.
You can't save songs, themes or media without internet — more in Sunday without internet.
4. Prepare the service
Click Prepare service. The app downloads everything this plan needs:
- syncs the library,
- downloads the media and the theme background,
- downloads the presentation pages,
- fetches the verse texts and installs an offline Bible if needed.
At the end you'll see Service prepared, or Prepared with gaps with a list of what couldn't be downloaded. The plan then shows Ready to work offline — or Not prepared for offline if media or a presentation is missing. This badge only checks media and presentations, so a plan without them can show Ready to work offline straight away. Click Prepare service anyway — that's what downloads the verses and the Bible.
Do this the day before, while you have internet. Clicking again only downloads what's missing — it's worth clicking once more on Sunday morning if someone changed the plan.
5. Start
- Start service — the first item loads into the PROJECTOR preview, and
Entersteps through the slides and the next items. - Run from here on an item — start in the middle, e.g. after a late start.
The app switches to the Show view. If your projector is assigned in Settings → Displays, the picture appears on it by itself; if not, click Go live there. If you go back to Services while the service runs, the plan shows “Service running · 3/12” and the End and Open Show buttons.
A plan from an import
If a plan shows “This plan is in the old format (import).”, click Prepare for editing (you need internet). After that you can edit it here, on the web and on the iPad.
