A file I marked Keep offline is gone after Prepare service

    What happens

Keep offline in Media saves a file on this computer, but it doesn't protect it. Offline files sit in a cache with a size limit, 4 GB by default. When you click Prepare service and the cache is over the limit, the app removes the files you haven't used for the longest time until it fits.

Everything the service you're preparing needs is safe. Files outside that plan can go, even if you marked them Keep offline. With internet you won't notice, because the file loads from the server. Without internet it's missing.

    Who it affects

Churches that keep a lot of video or backgrounds on the computer, especially when the room has no internet.

    Workaround
    1. Add the files you'll need to the plan before you click Prepare service. Files in the plan are never removed in that run.
    2. Raise the limit: Settings → Bible & offline, Cache limit. On Linux the setting is in Settings itself. Lowering the limit removes files too.
    3. After Prepare service, open Media while you're still online. Any file that no longer shows offline can be saved again with Keep offline.
    If that doesn't help

Keep your own copy of the files you can't do without, for example on a USB stick. If a file from the plan goes missing, that's a different problem, so please report it.

More on working with no connection: Sunday without internet.
