Your first month with WorshipPro, week by week
You don't have to set up everything at once. The goal for the first month is small: one real Sunday run from a WorshipPro plan, with the people who serve knowing where to look. An hour or two a week is enough, and whatever you skip can wait for month two.
Week 1: the church and the songs
This is a job for one person, in the browser.
- Create your church: Your account and a new church.
- Spend fifteen minutes on the first church setup. Check the Timezone, add your CCLI licence if you have one, and on the Modules tab turn off what you won't use yet. The menu gets shorter for everyone, the data stays, and you can turn a module back on later.
- Bring in your songs. In Music → Songs, on the Songbooks tab, click Add to church on the songbook you sing from. If you're coming from another program, follow Moving from another program in one evening instead.
- In Planning → Services, on the Service types tab, add the kinds of service you actually hold. One or two are enough.
Before you move on, search for three songs you sing often. Are the words right, and are the chords there? Fix that now, because everything else builds on it.
Week 2: the computer at the projector
Do this at church, with the real projector connected. Setting it up at home proves very little.
- Install the desktop app from the download page on the computer that will run the service.
- Sign in at least once with your email and password. Only then can you sign in without internet on a Sunday.
- Assign the screens once in Settings → Displays: Screens.
- Install a Bible translation: Settings → Bible & offline → Offline Bible → Get more translations.
- In Services, click New plan, add three songs and one reading, then click Start service. Step through with
→, pressBfor a black screen and press it again, and finish with Stop.
Leave the slide design alone for now. The WorshipPro Standard theme is good enough for a first Sunday, and a new theme is something you can tune once you've seen slides in your own room.
Week 3: the people
Invite in two waves.
- First wave, by email: whoever leads worship (role Leader) and whoever runs the projector. Go to Admin → Settings → Members and use Invite a member. Give them a few days to look around before anyone else arrives.
- In Planning → Teams, click Add team. Worship and Tech are enough to begin. Add positions and people to each.
- Tick each person's positions in the phone app: Church → Teams → the team → swipe the person left → Positions. Without this, Suggest a roster and automatic replacements won't pick them.
- Build the plan for your first real Sunday and click Publish.
- Second wave: everyone else, with the Church link on the same page. Click Create link, set Role for new people to Musician for the band, and send the link to your group chat.
Week 4: the first real Sunday
- A few days ahead, open the plan, click Roster, assign people and click Send invites. One service is enough. The schedule for a whole month can wait.
- In Settings → Reminders, set Hours before and Channel. 48 hours and Both is a sensible start.
- The day before, on the projector computer: open the plan in Services and click Prepare service. When you see Service prepared, turn off Wi-Fi and go through the plan once.
- On Sunday, follow the Sunday morning checklist.
- Afterwards, ask two people the same question: what did you have to hunt for? Those answers are your list for month two.
What can wait
These are useful, but none of them is needed for a first Sunday:
- the stage display and Text on phones,
- band click and stage mode on tablets,
- streaming,
- a tidy song library,
- rosters for a whole month,
- the people directory beyond your serving teams.
Add one at a time, each with a reason. A team that has learned one new thing a month is in a better place than a team that was shown everything on day one.
